Privacy Policy

The concept of online privacy includes the right to decide what personal information you choose to submit online, and how that information will be used, if at all. To protect user privacy, this site follows Office of Management and Budget (OMB) recommendations and other suggestions regarding Internet privacy policy for Federal Government Web sites. In doing so, we strive to make users aware of the kinds of information we collect from them, explaining why we collect that information, how we use it, and whether it will be shared with others.

Information Collected Automatically

We collect the following data for statistical purposes only from our public users:

  • the IP address from which users access our Web site;
  • the date and time of their visits;
  • the URLs of the pages that they view;
  • search terms used.

We use these statistics to make improvements to Browse Topics, not to identify individual users or their searches. We may use and disclose Site Use Information, for example, to measure the use of our site, explain the utility of our site, and to improve the content of our site.

Browse Topics sets and uses cookies. A cookie is a small piece of data that our Web site can send to your browser, which may then be stored on your computer. These cookies enhance the user experience of our volunteer librarians so they can submit/maintain their listings. By using this site, you consent to the use of our cookies.

Information Collected from Forms

Personal information submitted by a user in submission forms is not distributed to parties outside of the U.S. Government Printing Office and its partner, Oklahoma State University (OSU). Identifying information, such as name, e-mail address, and phone or fax number, is used only for responding to users' comments or questions, and is not made available for other purposes.
